glad you're interested.

tarn is a visual artist based in rural nh.

tarn’s art is a documentation of their growth and a product of constant reflection.

tarn received a bachelor’s degree in studio art with a focus on painting from the university of vermont in 2017. during their time in burlington vermont, they held an exhibit called “treedin,” which displayed the culmination of their senior year projects. from the press release:

“Treedin” is derived from an association with being fenced in, but by trees. It also sounds slightly similar to the word “trodden,” the past tense of the word “tread”--as in, something that has been trodden on has been tamped down by the dominant forces. In this case, “treedin” comments on the repressed importance of fabric arts, the associations they are given by their traditional creators (women) being fenced in to specific gender roles, and the surprising vitality shared by art of this kind and nature.

in recent years, tarn has focused on creating different collections of paintings, one of which is finished and displayed on this site.
